The School of the Built Environment is highly interdisciplinary in nature, covering a range of diverse subject areas including architecture, construction management, energy and environmental engineering. Our staff have extensive experience as advisers, consultants and visiting lecturers to companies, governments and universities globally.
Our MSc programmes focus on ensuring an excellent student experience and our curriculum extends beyond accepted models of best practice to incorporate the latest findings from research.
Flexible study options
Most of our courses are available full time over 12 months or on a flexible modular basis taking between 24 and 63 months. Both the full-time and flexible modes of study can be started in September or the following February.
Our two courses with industry placements are only available as one year of study followed by a year-long placement. These courses start in September.
All our courses are delivered on a modular basis with teaching arranged in block weeks. Learn more about flexible study.
Facilities
Our excellent facilities include a dedicated computer lounge for use by our students, equipped with the latest digital technology and software, including: building information modelling, 3D laser scanning, 3D visualisation, virtual reality headsets, building energy simulations and urban microclimate simulations.
