CRIS - Research information system

The University has purchased , a current research information system. PURE is designed to capture a wide range of data about our research and will serve as a single point of access for research management data and information. It will support strategic, effective and efficient use of University research data from enhancing researcher profiles to streamlining our REF submissions. Implementation will begin during the 2025 to 2026 academic year.

Further information about the progress of the implementation will be published on this page in due course, once the system is in place. In the meantime, look out for updates on the Staff Portal for opportunities to get involved in the different test phases of the software during implementation.

New research management system coming soon

The University is implementing a new research system to enhance how we manage, track, and support research activity and improve visibility. Following a comprehensive procurement process, we’ve signed a contract with Elsevier to implement Pure, a powerful Current Research Information System (CRIS). The CRIS will offer you:

• The ability to update your staff profile on the new Pure Portal

• A single tool for peer review of outputs

• Streamlined uploads to CentAUR

• Enhanced data connection with groups and collaborative projects

• Customisable dashboards and reports

The CRIS will reduce duplication and increase transparency by consolidating processes into a single platform. We’re currently in the planning phase, with go-live expected in Summer 2026. Learn more at .

We’re inviting researchers and professionals across different career stages and roles to help design the system, workflows, profile pages and dashboards to ensure the system meets the needs of our research community.
