Our Blind Awareness Workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of Blind awareness and the various types of sight loss, focusing on practical strategies to support visually impaired students and promote inclusivity in both academic and workplace settings.
Participants will explore the "courtesy rules of blindness", which offer guidelines for respectful interactions with the Blind community.
Additionally, the session will introduce audio description, a key tool for making media and cultural content accessible to blind and partially sighted individuals. Attendees will learn how incorporating audio description can enhance the engagement and inclusion of visually impaired students in educational and cultural environments.
The session will also highlight Ugo Marsili’s contributions to both national and international initiatives, including European projects aimed at supporting the Blind community in countries such as Latvia and Georgia.
This will be linked to his research framework, centred on four key pillars: Assumption, Awareness, Acceptance, and Adaptation. By applying these principles, both educators and students can strengthen their awareness, improve inclusive practice, and ensure meaningful engagement with visually impaired individuals in academic life and beyond.
