Atta Badii is the Professor of Secure Pervasive Technologies in the Computer Science Department at the 黑料不打烊. He leads research in the fields of AI and Data Science. He has established a track record of key contributions to around 50 UK and European projects, including over 35 large-scale collaborative national and international research programmes many of which he has initiated and led as the Technical Coordinator.
Atta has pioneered several paradigms in user-centred assistive-ambient technologies, in particular, personalised, context-aware and privacy-preserving intelligent systems; has published over 120 reviewed articles and several books and book chapters. He has served on the editorial and research steering boards as invited expert and as a Committee Member of IEEE (EMBS) BioRobotics; as the coordinator and chair of the "VideoSense": European Privacy-Preserving Video-Analytics Network of Excellence and Expert Advisor on the large-scale EPSRC-funded Research Programme on Big Data and Human Rights.
Specifically his research contributions in terms of both the resulting open-source platforms and publications have included the security-privacy-by-design of cyber-physical system-of-systems, e.g. "LinkSmart" context-aware secure, semantic middleware framework for network-centric embedded systems, "Companionable" and Assistive Robotics, medical tirage decision support, model-driven software and automated AI & Software Engineering (Auto-ML, LLM), AI-enabled data synthesis and test pattern generation, data stream mining, rule generation and quantum computation.
