Areas of interest

My research focuses on understanding how global change drivers interact and impact biodiversity, using a systems-based approach.

Specific areas of interest include:

  • The combined effects of global change drivers on tropical forest ecosystems
  • The interplay between environmental, ecological, and socio-economic factors in shaping natural systems - particularly tropical forests, temperate forests, and more recently in marine environments
  • Enhancing climate resilience and health outcomes through the restoration and development of green spaces

I supervise dissertation and placement students on a range of applied topics. Recent student projects have included:

  • Sustainability in the swimming pool industry
  • Improving climate resilience of the tourism industry in Jamaica
  • Sustainability in the coffee industry
  • The impact of agri-environmental schemes on farmland birds
  • Enhancing urban climate resilience and health outcomes through increased shade provision
